Flaxseed Benefits For Arthritis Sufferers
Flaxseed oil has many beneficial properties
The allround health benefits of the fatty acids in omega 3 oils are well known, particularly related to oily fish, such as
salmon, herring, mackerel, sardines and tuna. The same fatty acids, called EPA and DHA are also available from organic cold pressed flaxseed
oil.
Omega 3 oils are known to be beneficial in cases of heart disease, brain function like alzeimers and dementia and helping with
high colesterol levels but the main benefits for arthritis sufferers are in lubrication of joints and the reduction of inflammation.
Both fish oil and flaxseed oil have their advantages and disadvantages and the choice will be determined by individual
preferences and taste. Many people do not like the taste of fish and would not welcome the thought of eating it on a regular basis, like twice a
week.
Both oils are available in convenient capsule form, when the matter of taste is irrelevant. Some doubts are expressed that one
capsule a day is not sufficent to make any real difference. There is considerable disagreement regarding the taste of flaxseed oil, if taken by
the spoonful, or mixed with other ingredients. Opinions range from "a pleasant, fresh nutty taste" to likening it to drinking sump oil.
